Corneal arcus (arcus senilis) is a gray-white lipid ring in the peripheral corneal stroma, common in the elderly and benign. In patients under 40 (arcus juvenilis) it may be associated with hyperlipidemia and warrants lipid screening. It does not threaten vision. Treatment: reassurance in the elderly; screen/treat dyslipidemia in younger patients.
