Iritis is inflammation of the iris (a form of anterior uveitis), presenting with painful red eye, photophobia, lacrimation, constricted/irregular pupil, and reduced vision. It may be idiopathic or associated with HLA-B27 spondyloarthropathy, sarcoidosis, or infection. Treatment: topical corticosteroids and cycloplegics; investigate underlying systemic/infectious cause; monitor for secondary glaucoma and synechiae.
