Retinal detachment with choroidal detachment (RRD-CD) is a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment associated with serous choroidal detachment, presenting with lower IOP, anterior-chamber cells, and a deeper/shadowed choroid. It is a more complex detachment. Treatment: preoperative systemic corticosteroids to reduce choroidal detachment; then pars-plana vitrectomy and/or scleral buckle; high complication/recurrence risk.
RRD symptoms (flashes/floaters/curtain); low IOP; anterior-chamber cells; choroidal detachment on B-scan
RRD is associated with inflammatory serous choroidal detachment, complicating repair.
Pre-op systemic steroids; then vitrectomy/buckle; high complication risk
Urgent surgery; pre-op steroids.
It is recommended to visit the Ophthalmology department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
