Intermittent Strabismus

眼科

Common symptoms

内斜V征、内斜A征、斜视性弱视、眼球内斜

The pathology of disease

Intermittent strabismus is periodic ocular deviation, most often intermittent exotropia, manifesting when the child is tired, daydreaming, or looking at distance. It may decompensate to constant. Treatment: observe and orthoptic exercises for small deviations; correct refractive error; strabismus surgery for large, symptomatic, or decompensating deviations; treat amblyopia.

Common Symptoms

Periodic eye deviation (worse tired/distance); possible closure of one eye in sun; amblyopia risk

Causes and Pathogenesis

Imperfect binocular control allows periodic deviation while fusion is maintained otherwise.

Treatment

Observe/orthoptics; refractive correction; surgery if large/decompensating; treat amblyopia

Preventive Measures

Early detection; treat amblyopia.
