Hyperopia

眼科

Common symptoms

衰弱、偏头痛、视近不能持久、看东西变远、视力障碍、流泪、晶状体脱位或半脱位、视物模糊、斜视、眼干涩酸胀,易疲劳

The pathology of disease

Hyperopia (farsightedness) is a refractive error in which the eyeball is too short, focusing light behind the retina, causing blurred near vision (and distance in high degrees) plus asthenopia/eye strain. Children may accommodate and present with accommodative esotropia/amblyopia. Treatment: convex (plus-power) glasses/contacts; screen and treat amblyopia/accommodative esotropia; refractive surgery in adults if appropriate.

Common Symptoms

Blurred near vision; eye strain/headaches after near work; accommodative esotropia/amblyopia in children

Causes and Pathogenesis

Axial shortening of the eye focuses light behind the retina, requiring accommodation.

Treatment

Plus-lens glasses/contacts; treat amblyopia/accommodative esotropia; refractive surgery in adults

Preventive Measures

Screen children; correct refractive error; treat amblyopia.
