Sinus mucocele is an expansile mucus-filled lesion due to sinus ostial obstruction, most often frontal/ethmoid, causing gradual facial pressure/headache, nasal obstruction, and possible orbital/intracranial expansion. Treatment: surgical drainage/marsupialization (endoscopic sinus surgery); remove obstructing lesion; treat associated sinusitis; monitor for orbital/intracranial extension; external approach for frontal if needed; antibiotics if infected (mucopyocele).
Facial pressure/headache; nasal obstruction; gradual expansion; frontal/ethmoid common; orbital signs if extended
Ostial obstruction traps mucus, causing expansile, bone-remodeling lesion.
Endoscopic drainage/marsupialization; remove obstruction; antibiotics if infected; monitor extension
Treat chronic sinusitis/polyps; early imaging of facial pain.
It is recommended to visit the ENT/Neurosurgery/Ophthalmology department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
