Acute epiglottitis is life-threatening supraglottic inflammation; drooling; tripod position; stridor; children (Hib) and adults; emergency airway; ceftriaxone; avoid agitating child.

Causes

Haemophilus influenzae type b (children); other bacteria; adults less typical.
