Ischemic Enteritis

消化内科

Common symptoms

肠道张力减低、里急后重、呕吐、便血、腹痛、头晕、恶心

The pathology of disease

Ischemic enteritis is inflammation/injury of small bowel from hypoperfusion (acute mesenteric ischemia from emboli/thrombosis; chronic from atherosclerosis), presenting with abdominal pain, bleeding, and possible infarction. Treatment: NPO; IV fluids; broad-spectrum antibiotics; urgent vascular imaging (CTA); revascularization (endovascular/open) for acute ischemia; surgical resection if necrotic; treat vascular risk factors (atrial fibrillation/atherosclerosis); monitor for stricture; follow-up.

Common Symptoms

Abdominal pain; bleeding; by emboli/thrombosis/atherosclerosis

Causes and Pathogenesis

Small-bowel hypoperfusion causes mucosal ischemia and possible infarction.

Treatment

Supportive care; revascularization; surgery if necrotic; treat vascular risk factors

Preventive Measures

Control vascular risk factors; anticoagulate atrial fibrillation.
