Hereditary Pressure-Sensitive Neuropathy (HNPP)

神经内科

Common symptoms

颅神经麻痹、脱髓

The pathology of disease

Hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsies (HNPP) is an autosomal dominant neuropathy due to PMP22 gene deletion, characterized by recurrent, transient, painless focal palsies at common entrapment sites (wrist/elbow/fibular head) after minor compression/trauma, with full recovery over weeks. Nerve conduction shows multifocal conduction slowing. Treatment: avoid prolonged compression/trauma; surgical decompression in selected persistent cases; genetic counseling.

Common Symptoms

Recurrent transient painless palsies at entrapment sites; after minor compression; recovers over weeks; autosomal dominant

Causes and Pathogenesis

PMP22 deletion causes tomacular neuropathy, predisposing nerves to pressure palsies.

Treatment

Avoid compression/trauma; surgical decompression in selected persistent cases; genetic counseling

Preventive Measures

Avoid prolonged compression; ergonomics; genetic counseling.

Department to Visit
