Interstitial nephritis, also called tubulointerstitial nephritis, is a clinical-pathologic syndrome of acute or chronic tubulointerstitial damage from various causes, clinically divided into acute and chronic interstitial nephritis. Acute interstitial nephritis causes short-time inflammatory cell infiltration, interstitial edema and varying tubular damage with renal insufficiency; most cases have a clear cause, and removing it allows recovery. Chronic interstitial nephritis is characterized by renal interstitial fibrosis, mononuclear infiltration and tubular atrophy.
Immune nephritis; weakness; facial butterfly rash; tubulointerstitial nephritis; hematuria; nocturia; nausea; polyuria
Causes of acute interstitial nephritis: ① drugs: antibiotics, NSAIDs, analgesics, anticonvulsants, diuretics, proton-pump inhibitors; ② infection: bacteria, viruses, parasites, mycoplasma, chlamydia; ③ autoimmune diseases. Chronic forms involve long-term drug toxicity, infection, autoimmune disease and metabolic causes.
Medication, supportive treatment
Remove the cause, avoid nephrotoxic drugs, treat infection promptly, and monitor renal function.
It is recommended to visit the nephrology department; before the visit you may first book an appointment and connect with experts through this platform.
