The pathology of disease

Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis is chronic glomerulonephritis with mesangial/interlobular proliferation; type I (immune complex) vs type II (dense deposit, C3 glomerulopathy); low complement; proteinuria/hematuria.

Symptoms

Proteinuria; hematuria; hypertension; edema; chronic; low C3; associated HCV/endocarditis; slowly progressive

Causes

Immune complex (HCV, cryoglobulinemia); complement dysregulation (C3 glomerulopathy/dense deposit); chronic infection.

Treatment

Treat underlying HCV/infection; steroids/immunosuppressants; C5 inhibitor for C3G; renin-angiotensin blockade; nephrology
