Subcutaneous Lipoma

普外科

Common symptoms

纤维性钙化结节

The pathology of disease

Subcutaneous lipoma (TCM: sputum nodule; 'flesh lump' in Qianjin Yaofang): due to depression damaging spleen + sputum/qi stagnation. Soft painless subcutaneous mass (peach/fist size). Common sites: neck/shoulder/back/buttock/breast. Benign fat-tissue tumor of mature adipocytes. Lipoma: thin fibrous inner membrane with fibrous septa; common in subcutaneous tissues of neck/shoulder/back/buttock/breast/limbs/face/scalp/scrotum/labia; then retroperitoneal/gastrointestinal wall; rare in non-fat sites. Predominant fibrous tissue = fibrolipoma.

Common Symptoms

Fibrotic calcified nodule

Causes and Pathogenesis

'Lipoma tumorigenic factor' in somatic cells, normally inactive. Under internal/external triggers + reduced immunity + chronic inflammation + lipid metabolism disorder → factor activates, combines with gene fragments → abnormal mutation → adipose hyperplasia → subcutaneous/visceral mass. Rising incidence: high-cholesterol diet, alcohol, irritants, irregular meals, pesticides/food additives, radiation.

Preventive Measures

(1) Dietary balance: high-fiber foods (bowel/cholesterol/blood sugar/cancer prevention); fat <7-10% energy; vegetables/fruits/cereals >30g fiber/day; low cholesterol; limit salted/smoked/charcoal-grilled; no moldy food; no alcohol (liver/gallbladder/bile). (2) Avoid carcinogens; no donkey/dog meat.
