Vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis (cervical spondylosis with vertebrobasilar insufficiency) is compression/irritation of vertebral artery by osteophytes/disc herniation. Clinical: vertigo, dizziness, diplopia, ataxia, drop attacks with neck rotation, tinnitus, headache. Diagnosis: cervical X-ray/MRI/MRA; vertebrobasilar flow study. Treatment: conservative: NSAIDs, vasoactive agents, PT (cervical stabilization), soft collar, avoid sudden neck rotation; surgical: anterior cervical discectomy/decompression (ACDF) for refractory; manage vascular risk (BP, lipids, antiplatelet); follow-up orthopedics/neurology/ENT.
Vertigo; dizziness; diplopia; drop attacks; tinnitus
Osteophyte/disc compression of vertebral artery causes vertebrobasilar ischemia.
NSAIDs; PT; soft collar; ACDF if refractory; manage vascular risk
Neck posture; avoid sudden rotation; control vascular risk factors.
It is recommended to visit the Orthopedics/Neurology/ENT department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
