Spondylopathy

Spondylopathy is a general term for spinal disorders including degenerative (spondylosis), inflammatory (spondylitis/ankylosing spondylitis), infectious (osteomyelitis/discitis), traumatic (fracture/spondylolisthesis), metabolic (osteoporosis). Clinical: back pain, stiffness, radiculopathy, myelopathy, deformity. Diagnosis: X-ray/MRI/CT, labs (ESR/CRP, CBC, HLA-B27, cultures). Treatment: etiology-specific: degenerative: NSAIDs/PT; inflammatory: DMARDs/biologics; infectious: antibiotics/anti-TB; traumatic: brace/surgery; metabolic: osteoporosis therapy. Symptomatic: NSAIDs, muscle relaxants, PT, epidural injections; surgical: decompression/fusion for neuro deficit/deformity; follow-up orthopedics/rheumatology/infectious disease.
