Breech presentation is the commonest abnormal lie, about 3%-4% of term deliveries. Because the breech is larger than the head, the aftercoming head has no moulding and is often hard to deliver; plus cord prolapse is common, raising perinatal mortality 3-8 times that of occiput presentation. Using the sacrum as indicator, there are six positions: left sacro-anterior/transverse/posterior and right sacro-anterior/transverse/posterior.
