Vulvar ulcer

Vulvar ulcer is an acute skin disorder of the female external genitalia, mostly on labia majora/minora, showing one or more ulcers with fever and pain. It often follows inflammatory or malignant vulvovaginal disease, and sometimes reflects a systemic disease of the vulva/vagina.

Common Symptoms

Papule; Zhi Shufen; granuloma; pustule; severe pain; perineal ulcer; purulent discharge; urgency

Causes

Herpes simplex virus is the commonest cause; it is highly contagious by sexual contact and teratogenic to the fetus.

Treatment

Etiologic treatment, topical care

Prevention

Safe sex, vulvar hygiene.
