Ruptured ovarian corpus luteum cyst

妇科

Common symptoms

恶心与呕吐、脉率增快、血压下降、移动性浊音、下腹疼痛、闫未娟、下腹部压痛、腹痛、恶心、囊肿

The pathology of disease

The ovary forms a corpus luteum after ovulation; a mature corpus luteum is 2-3 cm. If the cavity accumulates much fluid over 3 cm it is a corpus luteum cyst; pregnancy corpus luteum may enlarge to a cyst, usually resolving naturally after 3 months of pregnancy. A cyst may rupture from rough intercourse, strenuous exercise, a fall or trauma, causing bleeding and severe acute abdomen. During vascularization it easily ruptures after external impact; internal bleeding raises intracystic pressure then causes rupture. Uncontrolled bleeding causes coagulopathy and even shock.

Common Symptoms

Sudden lower abdominal pain, bleeding

Causes

External impact or increased intracystic pressure ruptures the vascularized corpus luteum cyst.

Treatment

Rescue surgery, hemostasis

Prevention

Avoid trauma in luteal phase.
