Conception is complex: sperm and ovum form a zygote implanting in the uterine cavity. Besides normal sperm, ovum and uterine environment, getting sperm and ovum together and transported to the cavity is key, done by the tube. The tube links ovary and uterus and also ovulates, stores the ovum, conducts sperm, provides the fertilization site and transports the fertilized ovum to the cavity. Tubal inflammation blocking the tube prevents sperm meeting the ovum, causing infertility.
