Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV). Both HSV-1 and HSV-2 infect humans. Type 1 (oral/upper body, 10%) mainly causes herpes of upper-body skin/mucosa/organs (labial herpes, herpes encephalitis) but rarely infects the fetus. Type 2 (genital, 90%) mainly causes herpes of genitals (labia, clitoris, cervix), anus and lower back, transmitted mostly sexually, in young women.
Genital vesicles, pain

Antivirals, cesarean if active lesions
