Slow growth; nodule; painless parotid mass
May arise from ductal epithelium or myoepithelial cells. Gross: round/oval, smooth, occasionally nodular, encapsulated, brown cut, no cystic change/hemorrhage/myxoid areas. Microscopy: large, well-defined round/polygonal cells with granular eosinophilic cytoplasm, round/oval dark nuclei, prominent nucleoli, rare mitoses; EM shows packed enlarged mitochondria; cells form solid trabeculae/nests/lobules without glandular lumens; fibrous stroma separates lobules, no lymphoid follicles. Biology: benign, small, slow-growing, no recurrence after complete excision, rare malignant change.
Surgery; drug therapy; supportive care
No prevention reported; early detection, diagnosis and treatment are key.
