Dacryocystitis

眼科

Common symptoms

筛窦泪囊瘘、淋巴结肿大、囊性肿块、泪道阻塞、脓性分泌物、老年人流泪多、囊肿、泪溢、黏液囊肿

The pathology of disease

Dacryocystitis is infection of the lacrimal sac, usually secondary to nasolacrimal-duct obstruction causing stasis. It may be acute (painful swelling over medial canthus, fever) or chronic (recurrent epiphora, discharge). Clinical: tearing, discharge, swelling/tenderness over the lacrimal sac. Treatment: systemic antibiotics for acute; warm compresses; treat obstruction by probing/silicone intubation in children or dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) in adults; drain abscess if present.

Common Symptoms

Epiphora; discharge; swelling/tenderness over medial canthus; fever in acute

Causes and Pathogenesis

Nasolacrimal-duct obstruction causes tear stasis and secondary infection of the lacrimal sac.

Treatment

Systemic antibiotics; warm compresses; probing/DCR to relieve obstruction; drain abscess

Preventive Measures

Tear obstruction early; lid hygiene.
