Iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome is a unilateral disorder of young/middle-aged women with abnormal corneal endothelial cells proliferating across the angle, causing iris atrophy/holes, synechiae, and secondary (often difficult) glaucoma. Variants: progressive iris atrophy, Cogan-Reese, Chandler syndrome. Treatment: control secondary glaucoma (medications/tube shunt surgery); manage corneal edema (endothelial keratoplasty if needed); monitor long term.
Unilateral iris atrophy/holes; pigmented nodules; secondary glaucoma; corneal edema; young-mid women
Abnormal corneal endothelial membrane grows over angle, causing iris distortion, synechiae, and glaucoma.
Control glaucoma (meds/tube shunt); endothelial keratoplasty for corneal edema; long-term follow-up
Glaucoma monitoring; manage corneal edema.
It is recommended to visit the Ophthalmology department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
