Choroidal detachment is accumulation of serous fluid or blood in the suprachoroidal space, usually after intraocular surgery, with hypotony, inflammation, or trauma. Clinical: reduced vision, shallow anterior chamber, and elevated choroid on B-scan. Treatment: topical/systemic corticosteroids and cycloplegics for serous; observation; surgical drainage (suprachoroidal tap) for persistent/hemorrhagic or associated with shallow AC/hypotony.
Reduced vision; shallow anterior chamber; elevated choroid on B-scan; post-op/hypotony
Hypotony/inflammation/surgery causes fluid/blood accumulation in the suprachoroidal space.
Steroids/cycloplegics; observation; suprachoroidal drainage if persistent/shallow AC
Control IOP post-op; anti-inflammatory therapy.
It is recommended to visit the Ophthalmology department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
