Macular-hole retinal detachment is rhegmatogenous retinal detachment caused by a macular hole, classically in high myopia, presenting with central visual curtain/drop. Treatment: pars-plana vitrectomy with internal limiting-membrane peel, endolaser around the hole, and long-acting gas/silicone-oil tamponade; face-down positioning; high myopic eyes have higher complication risk.
Central visual curtain/drop; macular hole on OCT; high myopia
Macular hole in a myopic eye allows fluid under the retina, causing detachment.
Vitrectomy with ILM peel, endolaser, gas/oil tamponade; face-down positioning
Monitor high myopes; early surgery.
It is recommended to visit the Ophthalmology department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
