Myopia

眼科

Common symptoms

眼干、疲劳、视野缩小、铺路石样变性、豹纹状眼底、眼前黑影、病理性近视、畏光、假性近视、眼底改变

The pathology of disease

Myopia (nearsightedness) is a refractive error in which the eyeball is too long, focusing light in front of the retina, causing blurred distance vision while near vision remains clear. It is increasingly common in children. Treatment: concave (minus-power) glasses or contact lenses; refractive surgery (LASIK/SMILE/ICL) in adults; myopia-control in children (low-dose atropine, orthokeratology, outdoor time) to reduce high-myopia retinal risk.

Common Symptoms

Blurred distance vision; clear near vision; squinting; progressive childhood onset; high myopia retinal risk

Causes and Pathogenesis

Axial elongation of the eye focuses light in front of the retina.

Treatment

Minus-lens glasses/contacts; refractive surgery in adults; myopia control (atropine/ortho-K/outdoor) in children

Preventive Measures

Outdoor time; myopia control; regular retinal exam in high myopia.
