The pathology of disease

Globus pharyngeus is the painless sensation of a lump, tightness, or foreign body in the throat, persisting between swallows, without true dysphagia or structural obstruction. It is associated with GERD, pharyngeal inflammation, and anxiety. The sensation is often worse when not eating. Common Symptoms

Causes and Pathogenesis

Laryngopharyngeal reflux, upper-esophageal-sphincter tension, and anxiety produce the lump sensation without obstruction.
