Adenoid hypertrophy is enlargement of nasopharyngeal tonsil (adenoids) in children, causing nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, snoring, recurrent otitis media with effusion, and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Treatment: treat allergic rhinitis; intranasal corticosteroids; adenoidectomy if OME/recurrent otitis/OSA/obstruction; evaluate hearing/development; treat concurrent tonsillar hypertrophy; monitor sleep symptoms.
