The pathology of disease

Eosinophilic non-allergic rhinitis (NARES) is non-allergic rhinitis with nasal eosinophilia; anosmia; nasal polyps; may progress to Samter triad.

Symptoms

Watery rhinorrhea; nasal congestion; anosmia; nasal polyps; negative allergy tests; eosinophils on smear

Causes

Non-allergic eosinophilic inflammation; may progress to aspirin-exacerbated disease.

Treatment

Intranasal steroid; antihistamine; treat polyps; aspirin challenge/desensitization if indicated
