Hemolytic disease of the newborn (Rh/ABO incompatibility) is maternal antibody hemolysis of fetal red cells; jaundice; anemia; hydrops; positive Coombs.

Symptoms

Neonatal jaundice; pallor; hydrops; hepatosplenomegaly; positive direct Coombs; cord bilirubin

Causes

Rh(D) incompatibility; ABO incompatibility; maternal IgG antibodies.

Treatment

Phototherapy; exchange transfusion; IVIG; anti-D prophylaxis; monitor anemia
