Pustular Bacterid

Pustular bacterid (Andrews) is reactive sterile pustular eruption on palms/soles/extremities secondary to bacterial focus (tonsils/teeth/sinuses), presenting with crops of sterile pustules. Treatment: identify/treat bacterial focus (tonsillectomy/dental/ENT); topical corticosteroids; systemic antihistamines; dapsone/retinoids for severe; rule out pustular psoriasis/pyoderma gangrenosum; follow-up.

Causes and Pathogenesis

Reactive immune response to distant bacterial infection causes sterile pustules.

Treatment

Treat focus; topical/systemic anti-inflammatory; dapsone/retinoids
