Pityriasis Rubra (Leiner Erythroderma)

Leiner disease (desquamative erythroderma of infancy) is infantile generalized erythema/scaling/seborrhea, often with C5/Ig deficiency and recurrent infections. Treatment: emollients/barrier care; nutrition/hydration; antibiotics for secondary infection; evaluate complement/immunoglobulin levels; treat associated deficiency; monitor for sepsis/failure to thrive; follow-up.

Causes and Pathogenesis

Complement/immunodeficiency causes widespread scaly erythroderma.
