Hirsutism is male-pattern terminal hair growth in women (face/chest/abdomen/thighs), from PCOS/idiopathic/familial/adrenal hyperplasia/androgen-secreting tumor/medications. Treatment: investigate cause (testosterone/DHEAS/17-OH-prolactin/prolactin/androgens/ultrasound); treat cause: combined oral contraceptives; spironolactone; metformin for PCOS; glucocorticoids for CAH; surgical resection for tumor; cosmetic methods: laser hair removal/IPL/electrolysis/shaving/depilatory creams; eflornithine cream for facial; monitor virilization (deepening voice/clitoromegaly); follow-up endocrinology/gynecology/dermatology.
