Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous hyperplasia is benign multiple yellow 2-4 mm facial papules with central umbilication in elderly, due to enlarged sebaceous glands. Treatment: reassurance; topical retinoids (tretinoin/adapalene); cryotherapy/electrodessication/laser ablation for cosmetic; shave excision; biopsy to rule out basal cell carcinoma (clinically similar); gentle skin care; sun protection; follow-up dermatology.

Causes and Pathogenesis

Enlarged sebaceous glands (aging/androgen) form umbilicated papules.

Treatment

Reassurance; topical retinoids; cryotherapy/laser; biopsy to rule out BCC
