Keratoderma (keratosis) is hyperkeratotic thickened skin on palms/soles/extensor surfaces, hereditary (palmoplantar keratoderma/ichthyosis) or acquired (psoriasis/eczema/tinea/arsenical/paraneoplastic). Treatment: identify cause; keratolytics (salicylic/urea/lactic acid); topical retinoids (tazarotene); oral retinoids (acitretin/isotretinoin) for severe hereditary; emollients; treat underlying disease (psoriasis/eczema/tinea/arsenic exposure); avoid trauma/friction; follow-up dermatology; biopsy if atypical (rule out SCC/BCC).
