Pachydermoperiostosis

皮肤科

Common symptoms

指骨节肥大、骨膜炎、状颅皮、弥漫性骨膜增厚、额横纹增深、上眼睑增厚松弛

The pathology of disease

Pachydermoperiostosis is also called pachydermic periosteal hyperostosis or Touraine-Solente-Golé syndrome; the primary form may be autosomal dominant, and the secondary form is also called hyperplastic osteoarthropathy. It is often secondary to chronic or malignant diseases, and the mechanism is unclear. Primary periosteal pachydermia mainly occurs in males and may be an autosomal dominant disease with variable penetrance; such cases have been reported in China. Secondary periosteal pachydermia may also be hereditary but is often triggered by severe liver disease, bronchogenic or epidermoid carcinoma, bronchiectasis, lung abscess, or gastric, esophageal or thymic carcinoma.

Common Symptoms

Phalangeal hypertrophy; periostitis; cutis verticis gyrata; diffuse periosteal thickening; deepened frontal furrows; thickened and lax upper eyelid

Causes

The primary form may be autosomal dominant; the secondary form, also called hyperplastic osteoarthropathy, is often secondary to chronic or malignant diseases.

Treatment

Medication, supportive treatment

Prevention

Prevention targets the factors that may cause the disease. The primary form may be autosomal dominant, so early detection, diagnosis and treatment in pregnancy are important for indirect prevention. As it is often secondary to chronic or malignant disease, actively treating the primary disease is necessary.
