Scrotal dermatitis

Scrotal dermatitis follows scrotal trauma, urine extravasation and diabetes, mainly damp scrotum breeding bacteria; most patients have damp scrotum, so treatment first targets the damp scrotum. Pathogens are S. aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobic strep. Three types: erythematous, papular and white papular psoriasiform.

Common Symptoms

Scales; station doctor; scrotal peeling; inner thigh near scrotum; damp odorous scrotum; scrotal itching

Causes

Heavy labor causes damp genital area, sweat and underwear friction; sedentary office workers should keep the scrotum ventilated and avoid tight jeans/nylon; trauma, urine extravasation and diabetes also cause it, with damp scrotum breeding bacteria.

Treatment

Topical medication, keep dry, treat diabetes

Prevention

Keep the scrotum dry and ventilated, wear loose cotton underwear.
