Warts are viral epidermal growths (Nei Jing). Children/young adults; incubation 1-3 months; autoinoculable. Virus in stratum spinosum stimulates epidermal hyperplasia. Types: common/flat/molluscum/condyloma acuminatum.

Papule; condyloma; infant snoring

Causes and Pathogenesis

HPV; direct/indirect contact; trauma important. Course depends on host immunity; chronic non-resolution may reflect local/systemic immune deficiency/tolerance. TCM: yin-blood deficiency, liver malnourishment, qi-blood disharmony, wind-toxin blocking meridians.

Treatment

Drug therapy, supportive therapy

Preventive Measures

Treat molluscum contagiosum promptly; self-limited in 2-9 months; surgery/topical therapy.
