Syringoma is an adenoma of intraepidermal eccrine ducts; histochemically contains phosphorylases/hydrolases of eccrine origin; a benign sweat gland tumor differentiating toward intraepidermal ducts. Some have family history; favors eyelids/cheeks; firm small papules; rarely regresses, never malignant. May be left untreated.
Papule; intense pruritus; pruritus
Causes include genetics, aging, female hormones, constitution. (1) Genetic: a nevus-like tumor, sometimes familial. (2) Possibly endocrine. Histochemistry shows eccrine phosphorylases/hydrolases. Upper/mid dermis has many cystic ducts and solid epithelial cords in fibrous stroma; cyst walls lined by two flat cell layers; inner layer sometimes vacuolated; outer cells bulge outward like comma/tadpole; continuous sections connect to intraepidermal duct dilatation but not to deeper apocrine secretory coils.
Drug therapy; supportive care
Causes are complex (genetics, aging, hormones, constitution), so prevention is impossible. Seek correct treatment; do not squeeze or pick with unsterile needles to avoid infection.
It is recommended to visit the dermatology department; before the visit you may first book an appointment and connect with experts through this platform.
