Common symptoms

脑脓肿、丘疹、测试、免疫功能障碍、囊肿、脓性分泌物

The pathology of disease

Chromoblastomycosis is chronic granulomatous inflammation by dematiaceous fungi, mainly skin/subcutaneous tissue; slow painless verrucous nodules → papillomatous growths, some ulcerate. Farmers; also carpenters/masons; rare children.

Common Symptoms

Brain abscess; papule; test; immune dysfunction; cyst; purulent discharge

Causes and Pathogenesis

(1) Etiology: phaeohyphomycosis (dematiacious cyst/cerebral chromoblastomycosis); ~30 genera/50 species, brown septate hyphae; airborne spores infect lung/skin wounds; hematogenous spread. Subcutaneous = abscess/cyst; systemic = lung/bone/endocardium/brain; poor prognosis, death within 1 year. (2) Etiology: Fonsecaea pedrosoi/Compacta/verrucosa; Cladosporium carrionii most common in China; 6-12 µm brown rounded cells, no budding; widespread in damp soil/decaying straw/wood.

Treatment

Drug, symptomatic, supportive therapy

Preventive Measures
