Symptoms

Pain out of proportion; rapid swelling; bullae; skin discoloration; sepsis; fever; after minor trauma; diabetes

Causes

Group A Streptococcus; mixed flora; deep fascia infection; surgical emergency.

Treatment

Emergent surgical debridement; broad IV antibiotics (clindamycin + penicillin); ICU; IVIG if streptococcal toxic shock
