Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) is a pervasive preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism, and mental/interpersonal control, at the expense of flexibility, openness, and efficiency. Features: preoccupation with rules/lists/order, perfectionism that impairs completion, devotion to work over leisure, excessive conscientiousness over morals, inability to discard worn-out objects, reluctance to delegate, miserliness, and rigidity/stubbornness. It differs from OCD: ego-syntonic, no true obsessions/compulsions. Treatment: long-term psychodynamic/CBT psychotherapy; medication only for comorbid symptoms.
