Benign tumor

Benign tumor refers to abnormal proliferation of cells in certain body tissues with expansive growth like a gradually inflating balloon, growing relatively slowly. As the mass enlarges it may compress surrounding tissues but does not invade adjacent normal tissue; it is often spherical or nodular, usually encapsulated, with clear demarcation from normal tissue, movable on palpation, easy to resect completely without metastasis and rarely recurring.

Lower abdominal mass; upper abdominal mass

Causes

The causes of benign tumors remain incompletely understood, possibly involving complex interactions between cell mutation in the normal myometrium, certain hormones and local growth factors, and also related to genetic factors.

Treatment

Surgical treatment; conservative treatment

Prevention

1. Dietary: consume foods that inhibit tumor growth, such as sea cucumber, shiitake mushroom, tremella, Chinese kiwi, coix seed, water caltrop, and animal pancreas, liver, kidney, spleen and marine fish. 2. Do regular moderate aerobic exercise daily to enhance resistance. 3. Have regular health check-ups for early detection and early treatment.
