Multiple myeloma most common; osteolytic lesions and plasma cell marrow infiltration; anemia/hypergammaglobulinemia/hypercalcemia/renal impairment/infection.
Marrow plasmacytosis; radiating pain; amyloidosis; diffuse low back pain; fatigue; proteinuria; cord compression
Risk factors: high-dose ionizing radiation, chronic antigen stimulation, viral infection, chronic infection (osteomyelitis/pyelonephritis/TB). Age-related immune senescence; multi-step oncogenesis: thymic involution → polyclonal proliferation → random mutation. Familial. Gross: gray/red soft medullary, nodular, hemorrhagic/cystic/necrotic. Micro: dense plasma cell clusters; eccentric nuclei, clock-face chromatin, perinuclear hof.
Drug therapy; supportive care
Quit smoking; balanced diet; avoid spicy/overheated/cold/spoiled foods.
