Causes and Pathogenesis

(2) Adenoid cystic carcinoma (cylindroma): basaloid polygonal cells; cribriform/trabecular; hyalinized stroma. (3) Malignant mixed tumor/carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma: benign + malignant components; transition zones; necrosis/hemorrhage/dystrophic calcification/ossification/hyalinization/infiltration = malignant signs. (4) Adenocarcinoma (NOS): intercalated duct reserve cells; hard unencapsulated mass; tubular/glandular; high-grade. (5) Acinic cell carcinoma: 7.2-19%; superficial lobe/tail; low-grade; hard lobulated; granular/vacuolated cells; small central nuclei. (6) Squamous cell carcinoma: from ductal metaplasia or ex-mixed tumor; high-grade.
