Postpartum thyroiditis (PPT) is a thyroid dysfunction syndrome occurring within one year postpartum, transient or permanent. Its pathology is autoimmune thyroid inflammation, the commonest and most characteristic postpartum autoimmune thyroiditis. It may also occur after miscarriage at 5-20 weeks. It differs from postpartum thyroid syndrome.
