Pulmonary amyloidosis is amyloid deposition in the respiratory tract, presenting as: nodular parenchymal amyloidosis (asymptomatic nodules), diffuse interstitial/alveolar-septal amyloidosis (progressive dyspnea, restrictive defect), and tracheobronchial amyloidosis (stenosis, cough, wheeze, hemoptysis). It may be localized or part of systemic AL/AA disease. Treatment: treat systemic underlying amyloid; local resection/stenting for symptomatic tracheobronchial disease; supportive pulmonary care.
Cough; dyspnea; wheeze; hemoptysis; incidental nodules; progressive restrictive defect
Amyloid fibrils deposit in lung interstitium/airways/vessels, causing nodules, stiffness, or luminal narrowing.
Treat systemic amyloid (chemotherapy/colchicine); bronchoscopic dilation/stenting; surgical resection of symptomatic nodules; pulmonary support
Diagnose/treat systemic amyloid; surveillance imaging.
It is recommended to visit the Respiratory department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
