Infiltrative Pulmonary Tuberculosis

呼吸内科

Common symptoms

呼吸困难、咯血伴呛咳、败血症的征象、咳嗽、乏力、低热、消瘦

The pathology of disease

Infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis is a type of secondary pulmonary TB caused by reactivation of previously latent, uncured foci in the body.

Common Symptoms

Dyspnea; hemoptysis with paroxysmal cough; signs of sepsis; cough; fatigue; low fever; weight loss

Causes and Pathogenesis

Human-type tubercle bacilli are the cause. Most bacilli from primary hematogenous spread (occult bacteremia) that lie latent in the lung gradually die; only when immunity declines do latent bacilli in foci begin to multiply, forming lesions dominated by exudation and cellular infiltration with varying degrees of caseation, called infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis (endogenous infection). The primary focus may also progress directly to infiltrative TB.

Treatment

Anti-tuberculous therapy, supportive therapy

Preventive Measures

1. BCG vaccination for uninfected individuals. 2. Chemoprophylaxis for close contacts, Mantoux converters under 15, and non-active TB with immunosuppression, radiotherapy, or peri-gastrectomy. 3. Eliminate the source of infection: smear-positive pulmonary TB is the main source; new and retreatment smear-positive cases are the main targets of anti-TB treatment.

Department to Visit

It is recommended to visit the Respiratory department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
