Treatment: medical therapy (diuretics/rate control/ACEi); surgical assessment; combined (double) valve surgery or repair when significant symptomatic disease is present; secondary penicillin prophylaxis.
Dyspnea/fatigue; combined murmurs; chamber enlargement; history of rheumatic fever
Rheumatic (or degenerative) disease affects both valves, combining pressure and volume overload.
Medical therapy; combined valve surgery/repair when symptomatic/significant; secondary prophylaxis
Secondary prophylaxis; monitor valve function.
It is recommended to visit the Cardiology/Cardiac-surgery department; an appointment can be booked on this platform before the visit.
