Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome

心内科

Common symptoms

腱索断裂、紧张、疲乏、呼吸困难、不典型胸痛、二尖瓣脱垂、第三心音奔马律、乏力、第一心音亢进

The pathology of disease

Mitral valve prolapse syndrome is billowing of redundant mitral leaflets into the left atrium during systole, often benign but may cause mitral regurgitation, arrhythmias, or (rarely) embolic events. Clinical: mid-systolic click and murmur; often asymptomatic; atypical chest pain/palpitations. Treatment: reassurance for benign MVP; beta-blocker for palpitations/chest pain; treat arrhythmias; endocarditis prophylaxis only if significant regurgitation; mitral repair for severe regurgitation.

Common Symptoms

Often asymptomatic; mid-systolic click/murmur; palpitations/atypical chest pain; by benign/severe regurgitation

Causes and Pathogenesis

Myxomatous degeneration causes redundant leaflets that billow into LA.

Treatment

Reassurance; beta-blocker for symptoms; treat arrhythmias; repair for severe regurgitation

Preventive Measures

Echo follow-up; prophylaxis only if significant regurgitation.
