Aortic Stenosis

心内科

Common symptoms

呼吸困难、收缩期杂音、心绞痛、阵发性夜间呼吸困难、心律失常、猝死、意识丧失、心内膜弹力纤维增生、端坐呼吸

The pathology of disease

Aortic stenosis is narrowing of the aortic valve orifice (congenital bicuspid/degenerative calcific/rheumatic), causing left-ventricular pressure overload. Classic symptoms: angina, syncope, heart failure (poor prognosis once symptomatic). Treatment: asymptomatic - surveillance; symptomatic - aortic valve replacement (surgical AVR or TAVI), as medical therapy has limited benefit; balloon valvuloplasty as bridge; manage HF/arrhythmias.

Common Symptoms

Angina; exertional syncope; heart failure; systolic ejection murmur; by mild/moderate/severe

Causes and Pathogenesis

Calcific/bicuspid/rheumatic valve narrowing causes LV pressure overload and hypertrophy.

Treatment

AVR (surgical/TAVI) once symptomatic; medical therapy limited; balloon as bridge; manage HF

Preventive Measures

Echo surveillance; treat risk factors; endocarditis prophylaxis.

Department to Visit
